A horizontal percentage bar using pure CSS (no php or javascript) and just 2 images.
No matter how many percentage bar’s will be displayed on the page the user will only need to wait for two images to be downloaded.

jsProgressBarHandler

jsProgressBarHandler is a rewrite of the (unfortunately wrongly named) AJAX Progress / Percentage Bar by Webappers. Improvements made were the change from a set of functions to a true Prototype.js Class, reduction in the number of functions, and making it unobtrusive (if javascript is disabled you'll still see the percentage), amongst some minor tweaks.

Progress bars are one of those things that are horribly useful, but which always seem to be more complex to actually pull off than they should be. Fortunately, they don’t have to be hard.

I tend to enjoy dabbling in elegant CSS, and figured this might be of some use to some of you out there.
