The tabs being inverted, or upside down, and the dropshadow cast by the header image prevented me from using the original technique without modifying it.

Simple CSS Tabs

Bullet list styled with CSS
* The secondary menu is now a nested list, so it is more semantically meaningful.
* The tabs scale with font sizes much better by using EMs more frequently for sizing.
* Things are a little more compact, so there's more room for the tabs.
* It's easy to control the width of the whole box (using EMs if you're clever).

Simple Horizontal Tab Menu

Let's be honest, this menu isn't anything unique or special... it's a great starting point for people who are building their first few CSS menu's. The CSS/XHTML is very clean and easy to understand. There aren't any images for the menu, so you won't need to open up Photoshop to customize the menu.

Horizontal tab menu - selected & hover tabs slide up or down.

The above menu has also been produced without the aid of images and should work in IE5.01 (static image), IE5.5, IE6, Opera 7.54, Mozilla 1.75, FF and NN 7.1. Also Mac Safari and IE5.

A centered menu with tab highlight

Another centered 'float left' menu, this time with a tab highlight, shaded base and a 'current' tab. Just click any link to reload the page with that tab made current. Again this is made possible with the use of PHP to write 'current' into the selected tab.

This makes use of three images.
