Best resources for free icons

Icons can really improve the look of your website and can also help usability.
If your a web designer you might be comfortable creating these icons yourself - but for everyone else - here is a list of the best free icon resources I know of:
FamFamFam Silk Icons
The FamFamFam Silk Icons are probably the most popular free icon set. "Silk" is a smooth, free icon set, containing over 700 16-by-16 pixel icons in PNG format. Containing a large variety of icons, you're sure to find something that tickles your fancy. And all for a low low price of $0.00. You can't get any better than that.
The Silk icons are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 License. This means you may use it for any purpose, and make any changes you like - just make sure you include a link back to the authors webpage in your credits.
IconFinder
IconFinder dubs itself as the best search engine for icons (although it is probably the ONLY search engine for icons).
It is a very handy tool. Just type in the name of an icon you are looking for (for example "error") and a list of error icons will be shown, along with the further information such as the license the icons belong to. There's also some handy search filters available (search by icon size, background color) and a MacOS dashboard widget for those Mac-fans out there.
Crystal Clear
Icons from the Crystal Clear icon set were created by Everaldo Coelho.
The icons are licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL). All images are 128x128px and are in PNG format (with transparent background).
Tango Icon Gallery
The Tango Icon Gallery is a direct result of work on the Tango Free Desktop project.
This icon set is more designed for application/desktop use - but there are plenty of icons there which are applicable to websites and web applications. The Tango base icon theme is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike license.
IconBuffet
The Chefs at IconBuffet painstakingly create dozens of new free icons each month which are somewhat randomly delivered to members according to super-secret schedules. If you're not already a member, you should really sign up
